Dr. Qiaoping Jia, Vice President of Sanda University met with Dr. Ian MacDonald, Director of Office of International Development Strategy and Mr. Will Shannon, International Partnership Program Coordinator of New Zealand University of Canterbury as well as Ms. Jun Xie, Project Director in China at in the afternoon of October 19th. Ms. Hua Hua, Director of Office of International Cooperation and Ms. Miao Yi also attended at the meeting.
Dr. Jia warmly welcomed the New Zealand delegation on behalf of Sanda and made a detailed introduction to Sanda University for the quests. The New Zealand representatives also introduced the basic situation of University of Canterbury. Both sides later on conducted the preliminary discussion on short-term, overseas study, internship, faculty exchange and other programs and reached the initial intention of signing a MOU by both universities. The both sides also planned to coordinate and follow up the promotion of cooperation programs in the near future.
University of Canterbury, situated in the city of Christchurch, capital of Canterbury Province, New Zealand, is a famous research institution of higher learning and also the second oldest ever in New Zealand history. Its predecessor, Canterbury College, was established in 1873.
